Greenhouse farming “Modern Village”
26.July.2022Many locals are engaged in domestic agricultural activities in Tsalka municipality. Dato Markoidze’s family has been engaged in domestic agriculture for many years and grows various vegetable crops on the land he owns. The harsh climate of Tsalka Municipality gives the locals less opportunity to grow seedlings at an early stage, which is why the locals mainly consume seedlings imported from Marneuli and Tbilisi, which further prolongs the process of growing different crops. Demand for seedlings in Tsalka is increasing especially since the beginning of April, which is why Dato started bringing seedlings home 8 years ago and gained significant experience and trust from local consumers. Despite the high demand for seedlings, the Dato family has not been able to produce the required number of seedlings at home, which is why, with the support of the EU ENPARD program, Dato has planted a seedling greenhouse in his 200 sq. M. 4 family members with many years of experience were involved in this family business.
Dato’s main goal is to produce a quality product, deliver quality seedlings to customers at an early stage and fully meet the requirements for the product. He also wants to share the accumulated experience with young people and involve stakeholders in the production process.
